How I’ve helped cloud, cybersecurity, fintech, and telecom brands translate technical complexity into high-converting copy and content

Fractional Content Support for OSS Cybersecurity

CloudLinux is an established player in cloud computing, with a FOSS-based operating system for hosting providers, as well as an open source focused cybersecurity toolbox, TuxCare.

The product marketing manager started working with me as they've had challenges with previous writers who struggled to understand their technical product. The constant rounds of revision simply wasn't working for a marketing team that was under pressure to deliver marketing support for a rapidly growing product.

We started with a couple of blog briefs, which soon turned into 10-15 articles a month to support SEO and inbound. Many of these were interview-based, with regular meetings with their Technical Evangelist at the time. The content we submitted to Forbes was published as-is, which the client said was a first for them!

As trust developed the team also sought my input on for two product launches: AlmaLinux and TuxCare, where I weighed in on product names, positioning and the supporting copy including press releases.

Over the years I also helped with countless landing pages, comparison pages and a few large reports - including a popular eBook on Ransomware.

Deliverables

  • Strategy, positioning support for TuxCare and AlmaLinux

  • Product landing Pages and Comparison Pages

  • Blog production, with over 200+ technical articles

  • Long form reports and white papers

  • Interview-driven thought leadership

  • Outreach articles for Forbes, TechCrunch

Positioning, Copy and Content for B2B Telecoms

GigSky is a decades-old global MNO with global roaming eSIM technology and millions of active SIM cards out in the field.

GigSky is in the process of launching a number of enterprise connectivity products, including IoT eSIM, SMS and omnichannel coms, and a B2B travel SIM.

With the marketing team in Copenhagen, the client's initial instinct was to hire a native English speaker as a writer for the website. It quickly evolved into more foundational work; and I suggested a staged process to the client, from setting positioning in a very competitive field, to product architecture - with copy and content flowing from that.

Based on the foundational work I ideated the website and produced comprehensive copy across the home page, products and core verticals. We also wanted to test SEO success so I produced 30 articles published with the website launch and we're looking forward to the results. Currently we're publishing outreach articles on an ongoing basis.

Deliverables

  • Analysis of competitor positioning including gaps

  • Branding, foundational marketing

  • Product architecture and nomenclature

  • SEO research

  • Complete website copy

  • Strategy for blogs

  • Long form content

  • Outreach to industry publications

Strategic Content, Rebranding Support for Fintech

Amazon Payment Services provides payment services (card and app-based) to thousands of business from SME to enterprises. It's a complex, high-trust product offer with a choice of integrations and comprehensive API.

The team originally  hired me because they felt that their documentation could do with business language that outlines the business benefits of technical features - with the aim of driving product engagement.

I achieved that - and in spades. But along the route, I built trust with the team and the relationship grew. I noticed the product positioning of some integration tiers were unclear, and suggested changes that the team accepted.

The team also involved me in positioning as the company rebranded from PayFort to Amazon Payment Services. Our engagement eventually expanded into landing pages, long-form blog content and customer success stories.

I also provided critical support for their Gen Z report, taking the raw data collected and ideating the narrative, interviewing internal SMEs, and producing the entire report - which was cited across the region.

Deliverables

  • Business language for complex technical concepts

  • Product positioning and branding support

  • Industry reports

  • Customer Success Stories

  • Landing Pages

  • On-site support at a fintech conference
